If you say “I don’t have time to do these things”, then you’ve already engaged in a losing battle with yourself. Now, more than any other time in our lives, we have the time!! Not to mention, everyone has the same 24 hours in every day; it’s what you choose to do with your 24 hours that separates the winners from the losers.
Prioritize your time during this time of craziness, and make it a point to give these things a shot.
"Everyone has the same 24 hours in every day"
1. Drink MORE Water: While it’s not 100% free, just include it in your water bill and you won’t miss it. Drinking water has many health benefits. In general, you should try to drink between half an ounce and an ounce of water for each pound you weigh, every day. For example, if you weigh 150lbs, that would be 75oz to 150 oz. of water per day. Sounds hard but the benefits are amazing.
Chances are: you have water readily available and handy at home. This one is easy, and it doesn't take much to start. One of the most important things it will do for you is give you more energy! Click HERE for more.
Exercise MORE: Inactivity is an enemy. As we get more bogged down with sitting idle in front of a computer for work, flipping through Facebook timelines, commuting back and forth to and from work, or just lounging at home watching Netflix, many of us can go an entire day with little movement in our lives. I encourage you to stand up while on the computer, walk daily, get an exercise routine, and move more. You don’t need a gym membership to run in place, do exercises using your own body weight, jump rope, or walk around the block. In fact, the best exercises for you require absolutely no equipment!
I'll say that again...you don't need equipment, special shoes, spandex outfits, or gloves. You just need a desire. The exercise industry has fooled all of us into thinking you need a stationery bike, a treadmill, or dumbells. You don't! Check out Funk Roberts, who is one of my favorite workout warriors on YouTube
Read MORE: You are probably thinking “books aren’t free”. Well, I’m going to tell you that there are at least 3 or 4 books lying around your house that you haven’t read. Not to mention there are millions of free e-books online. Books are inspiring and stimulate the brain and the body in more ways than you probably have imagined. Countless studies point to the fact that successful people are usually avid readers. Make it a goal to read a book a month. The beauty in reading is that you can read anything that interests you! Budget MORE: I know this is a shaky time for a lot of us, but you have to face it and confront it, in order to take control of it. Not thinking about it won't make it go away! Managing your money takes discipline, and discipline doesn't cost money. Sure it costs time and effort, but the benefits are worth it. After you master a realistic budget, create a personal balance sheet tallying your assets and your liabilities to figure your net worth. Following a written budget will free up money. The point is: take this time to organize your money, organize your thoughts about your money, and figure out a plan and a budget. Check out this great article HERE.
Pray MORE: Spending more time with God alone is essential, and it’s free. Many times throughout scripture God calls for us to spend time with him alone. Often times, it is in these quiet moments, of prayer and meditation, that God speaks to us. If we aren’t seeking God through prayer, we often times miss the answers to a lot of our problems.
We spend a lot of time in the hustle and bustle of life, so set aside 15-30 minutes a day to pray and meditate in the presence of God! Click HERE for a great article and a deeper understanding of the importance of alone time with God.
Bottom line is this: Turn off the TV and Netflix, get off your social media, and take this time to work on being more productive, and more constructive. It's not the perfect time, but it's a great time to rearrange some things, prioritize, and pivot into some cleaner and more fulfilling FREE habits.
